The boy sat there on the cliff, shaking, barely able to keep
his hands on the rifle. His uncle, who was more like a brother to him lay dead,
parts of the giant worm that tried to eat him still attached to his body. He’d
like to pretend he didn’t know how this could happen. He knew it all to well
according to the sisters down at the Antioch
Primitive Baptist
Church. They had told him
he had a gift and what they said his dreams were of was this day, of
Armageddon. The last battle between good and evil, and those worms were sure as
hell evil.

Wow! That certainly intrigued me and now I want more. Great Six!
ReplyDeleteArmageddon scenario! Excellent. See you next week.
ReplyDeletePretty intense. Giant worms and the Baptist church. Hmmm.
ReplyDeleteWhoa, that's heavy. In a good way. I love everything you're using in this snippet--the settings, characters, premise. It's seriously working. Great six. And yes, I love when dead ends finally sprout into something productive. Especially when they turn out like this. :)
